We all know the horrible track record of transformations, innovation programs, customer centricity strategies, major technology programs, operating model transitions and other “big bets”. One in six fail to deliver any benefit (complete failure), and over 80% do not deliver the impact on which they were rationalized.

The book is *not* an end-to-end methodology, but instead offers a playbook tackling the reasons why transformations fail. We give strategies and tactics to solve for these points of failure. The playbook outlines how to put into action the three critical habits of Big Bet Legends.
We kept the book lean (<45k words) and in a story format to pull readers through it. It does not suffer from “TL;DR” (too long; didn’t read). The book is a great read or listen available in hardcover, ebook and audio.

Kevin McCaffrey is an expert in the Operations of Strategy (StratOps), with a focus on the design of user-centered approaches to optimizing delivery of the most important strategic decisions that leaders must get right — decisions like allocating resources across a portfolio and placing Big Bets. He is a former McKinsey consultant and led strategy, operations and new business incubation functions at T-Mobile and Google.
